Call for papers & art works

The 3rd “3AI” (3AI.25) will be focused on the shifting of Art Actors and their environments. It observes that the integration of AI into artistic practice not only alters the creative process but also influences art criticism, curation, and public perception. The expanding role of AI challenges established power structures in the art world, potentially democratising access to artistic creation while simultaneously raising concerns about automation, bias, and the erosion of human creativity. The ability to harness AI for artistic production often depends on access to computing power, proprietary tools, and specialised technical knowledge, creating new disparities between those with technological resources and those without. This raises critical questions about who controls the development and distribution of AI technologies in the arts, whether such tools reinforce existing hierarchies, and how we might ensure broader accessibility to prevent AI-driven art from becoming the domain of a privileged few.

The following are some of the issues this conference attempts to explore:

  • Does AI democratise artistic creation, or does it reinforce existing inequalities?
  • What are the implications of AI on artistic authorship and originality?
  • How does control over AI tools shape artistic production and cultural narratives?
  • How can we ensure equitable access to AI-powered artistic tools?
  • What ethical, political and societal risks arise from AI-driven automation in the arts?
  • How can AI tools be explored, designed and used to support human artistic creation and cultural expression while also ensuring meaningful societal benefits?
  • What tactics can the user (ref: De Certeau) deploy to attempt to free themselves from the dominant logics imposed by tools and their opacity?

Contribution are invited to be interested in one or more of the following emerging skills:
